Because the geographic scale of the client base is so large, most manufacturers contract out their field service to companies that are concerned more with their rating on a survey than whether or not your network is running. At MSI, we have a single focus when responding to a CareNET call; we call it "RTO" which stands for Return To Operability. What good is a replacement router if it doesn't have your routing tables on it, or a new server hard drive without your programs and data restored to it? CareNET works this way:

When you purchase CareNET coverage for your network infrastructure devices, we buy and warehouse a spare device of the same or similar specifications. If your device fails, we dispatch a technician with the spare part and we either repair or replace your device on the spot. With most warranties, you would have to wait for parts to be shipped to you or to a local repair depot before the tech will even come out to your site.

Once you have an operational device, there is often some configuration that needs to be completed to get your network operational. With CareLAN, that configuration is handled by the technician and you are returned to operability. With a manufacturer's plan, your device will often be restored to "Factory Configuration" and the technician might not have the skills or the authority to configure your device.
